Cancer
My sister-in-law went into the hospital this past friday. Her doctor said the c-word and that he had scheduled her to go to surgery. She had the surgery yesterday and what should have taken 3 hours took 6. During the surgery the doctor tried to remove the cancer but there was just to much. They removed portions of her abdominal lining, intestines, colon, and they found it around one of the heart valves. She's going to be hospitalized for another two weeks and will begin aggressive chemo therapy in 10 days.
All prayers will be welcomed and appreciated. The wife and I will be traveling down and God willing the California fires won't get in the way.
We, the wife and I have been sick and the news have really crushed me. It's been a real bad year. The passing of my Dad through cancer, the devastating injuries to my cousin, the death of his wife. A motorcycle accident with another cousin. It goes on and Lord knows I need strength and help.

Oh Ken...I am so sorry....My prayers and thoughts are with you my friend. It truly has been one, *shitty,(*sorry), year.
We're all here for you and for Jenn - to talk with, cry with, and flat out scream with!
May Prayers and The Lord's peace be with you and comfort you both.

Thanks Mon, I'm trying to distract myself and man-up. Trying had not to cry, it's not working but I'm trying. God I'm trying.

Dear heart - you're allowed to cry
- And you are by far, one of the greatest men out there!
Keep leaning on God's strength my friend - He does not expect you to carry this burden - remember - He will carry it for you

Better days are ahead, my friend. You will find the strength to get through, and so will your sis-in-law. May the upcoming trip be safe.

long trip- um....maybe leave the dog with a neighbor/freind/family?? - I'm thinking just in case the fires get closer to your place while you're away, and people where you live have to evacuate.
Might want to also go ahead and pack your treasured items, such as pics and things like that, for the same reason. - I just don't want you all to come back to nothing if the house happens to go.
Also, want you guys to be safe driving - take lots of water, and saftey items - you know what to take - but again, just in case. That fire is nothing to take lightly - as I know you already know.
Again, Prayers being sent with you as you travel and with your families also .......

Thanks, I will do just that. The distraction will be good. The winds are dying and California has the great firefighter the world have ever seen.

You are in my thoughts Ken. This is terrible!
Sorry you have had such a terrible year.
May I ask the age of sister-in-law? Not that age matters, I'm just curious.
Be safe on your trip and I'll keep you and yours in thought and prayer.
Praying for strength for all to get through this difficult challenge.
((hugs))

Thinking about you too. I may not go this weekend like planned. I can't shake this cold and I don't want to get my sister-in-law sick while she's battling cancer and recoving from her surgery.

Sorry to hear about your sis-in-law. Makes me feel lucky that the only thing i have to grumble about is my stinking cold, i would much rather a cold that what she has. It does make me sit back and realise how much i take for granted.
My wife went through the trauma of seeing her mother have breast cancer, the operation, and chemo.
It can be a tough time for everyone, but looks like you have had more than your fair share.
I wish your sis-in-law all the best!
